EDET3302

This is my first blog entry for the topic EDET3302 – Learning with Computers. My name is Amy and I am a fourth year education student. I am currently completing my final three topics of my university career, this being one of them!

My major is Digital Media so I have completed a number of IT topics throughout my degree including Computers in Schools and Multimedia Literacy. Therefore, I have had some experience with a number of Web 2.0 tools including del.icio.us, Photo Story and blogging. I have also had experience in Clay animation, webpage design and I have used SMARTBoards on my practicum. I think these are just some of the tools than can support and enhance teaching and learning. They also help to keep students excited and engaged. I look forward to finding out about more of the Web 2.0 tools available to me and how I can use them in the classroom.

Through other Education topics and my practicums I have been exposed to a number of different frameworkds to help plan for student learning. I have used the Inquiry approach before and find that it is a useful framework to use when planning as it allows you to guide student learning towards the outcomes and assessment tasks you have set. I have also used Multiple Intelligences to allow students to work with their strengths and choose tasks that suit their learning styles.

From this topic I hope to find out more about the different technologies I can use in the classroom and how they can be best used to achieve quality student learning. I also look forward to contributing to other people’s learning and collaborating with others to investigate the large range of tools available to us as teachers.
